Since 2015 he forms part of the FOX Sports (USA) Golf Broadcast team for their coverage of the US Open and other major USGA Championships.
Shane O’Donoghue is the face of golf on CNN International. The host of the network’s monthly Living Golf show, he also covers the four ‘majors’ and events such as the Ryder Cup, Presidents Cup and Solheim Cup on World Sport as part of his brief. He is contracted to FOX Sports golf team in the USA, hosting live coverage of USGA Championships, including the US Open and several other marquee tournaments on domestic TV.
He has covered every major golf tournament and interviewed all the world’s top players and is a respected documentary maker. He was a Contributing Editor to Sports Illustrated’s Golf Magazine in the USA. At the Majors, he is a Contributor/Analyst for Sports Illustrated’s Golf.Com. In June 2013 he was guest host on Golf Channel's Morning Drive show. Previous roles include, commentator/reporter for the BBC for seven seasons and spent 15 years with RTÈ TV & Radio (1996-2011). Shane is a member of the AGW (Association of Golf Writers), IGWA (Irish Golf Writers Association) and NUJ (National Union of Journalists).
Shane is an experienced MC and has hosted a number of high profile events, notably the opening and closing ceremonies at the 2007 Seve Trophy, the European Tour's Players Dinner in 2007 & 2008 and more recently he was MC of for the Gala Dinner and both the Opening and Closing Ceremonies at The Solheim Cup at Killeen Castle 2011. Recently, Shane was MC for the official prize presentation of the Irish Open 2013 at Carton House. He is the regular host of the annual Irish Golf Tour Operators Association Annual Awards and Gala Dinner and has worked regularly with Horse Racing Ireland at their annual awards and hosted events like Puma's launch of its association with the Irish Rugby team.
In Ireland he will be most noted for his voice on Irish Radio working for RTÈ Radio presenting Saturday Sport on Radio One (2001-2003) and as Sports Presenter on the award winning 2FM Breakfast Show, “The Full Irish” with Ryan Tubridy (2002-2005). He was presenter of the National Lottery Draws (2007-2011).
Shane is also the founder and CEO of Niche Communications Ltd. in Ireland, a boutique Digital Media Production company, trading as Niche Media, that also specializes in Media Relations and Client Servicing. The company’s core area of expertise is golf. In 2013 it was the On-Ireland Agency for The European Tour for the Irish Open at Carton House. Shane’s services for this incorporated MC for the Players Championship Reception, Pro-Am Presentation of Prizes, Tournament Commentary for domestic and world feed coverage, daily player ‘Q&A’ Sessions in the Tented Village and the official Prize Presentation on the 18th Green.
Originally hailing from Clonmel, Co. Tipperary, he is currently based in Dublin, Ireland.
